Safe Mercury Filling Removal

During removal of Mercury-Amalgam fillings and replacement with carefully selected bio-compatible alertnatives, mercury is released as a vapor.

We will be using specially developed protocols, established through the IAOMT (International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology), to minimize your risk of exposure. We will offer you a mask to place over your nose to allow you to breath fresh oxygen. We will also place a vinyl sheet (rubber dam) on the teeth we are treating to isolate them from the rest of your mouth.

High speed suctions will be used to suction off debris generated by the old filllings, and another type of vacuum will pull away the vapor generated to filter the mercury and other toxins from the air. Disposable surgical drapes will be placed over your body to avoid contamination of your skin and clothing. The dentist will use the chunk technique to remove the old mercury-amalgam fillings to minimize the vapors released during the drilling process.
